YAY! It’s summertime in Alaska! We can joyfully open our windows and doors. Uh oh. A bumblebee flew through the open window and is now trapped inside the house. Here’s a simple trick I use to free a trapped bumblebee from your home (or greenhouse) without killing it.
The best parts?
- The method is less stressful for the bee.
- It is much less stressful than the cover-it-with-a-jar and carrying it outside
- It is more efficient, especially if the bee flies to the ceiling for a way out
- You can create the “tool” from materials you have close at hand
But hey, it’s easier to describe it to you in my short YouTube video. You’ll see, step-by-step, how to free a bee. (Plus more cool stuff about bees):
Why should you save a bumblebee (or any bee!) from certain death?

The bees thank you!
